Carey Creek takeoutFor over 40 years, we have provided rental gear to river runners. We have the knowledge, equipment, facilities, location, and desire to provide you with the very best equipment and service.

We provide equipment rental for trips on the Middle Fork, Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, Selway, and Hells Canyon.

Rafts are rented on a first come basis. We have a large inventory, but for best selection please make your reservations early: call (208) 756-3958 or email blackadarboating@custertel.

Pickup and Delivery Information

We can deliver your rental gear to the put-in and pick it up at the take-out at no charge if your "Rental Only" or "Rental plus Shuttles" meets the following minimums:

Middle Fork Rental Only $1000
Rental plus Shuttles $1500
Main Salmon Rental Only $1500
Rental plus Shuttles $2000
Selway Rental Only $2500
Lower Salmon Rental Only $2500
Hell's Canyon Rental Only (Dam to Pittsburg Landing) $3000
Rental Only (Dam to Heller Bar) $3500

You may use one inflatable kayak at no charge with each raft rented.

Pick up of rental gear before 1:00 pm from the Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, and Hells Canyon requires prior arrangements. Please call for details.


Rental Packages

Our rental packages include 12'6", 14', 15', and 16' rafts. One-man and two-man inflatable kayaks are also available.

Kitchen packages (utensils, pots & pans, stoves, etc.) are available for $250.00 per trip with the rental of one or more rafts. See our Kitchen Equipment Checklist.


12'6" Self-Bailer Paddle BoatSmall boat with paddles and lifejackets

$125.00 per "day on the river"

Great little Paddle Boat, especially in low water. Holds up to 5 paddlers.

Comes with paddles, life jackets, waterproof bags, throw rope, and pump.




12'6" Self-Bailer Oar Boat

$150.00 per "day on the river"

Great set up for the Middle Fork, Selway, or Main Salmon. Holds two people and their gear comfortably. An excellent fishing boat.

14' Self-Bailer Paddle Boat

Holds up to 7 paddlers. Comes with paddles, life jackets, waterproof bags, throw rope, and pump.






14' Self-Bailer Oar Boat

$165.00 per "day on the river"

Our most popular raft. Big enough for three people and their gear. Highly maneuverable when fully loaded. Great medium- to low-water boat.

Boat with Frame and OarsIncludes raft, frame, oars, bow & stern lines, 2 dry boxes, large cooler, cargo sling, cargo net, throw rope, repair kit, pump, assorted straps, life jackets, and waterproof bags. Firepan, ash can, shovel, bucket, strainer, and Porta potty are required by the Forest Service and are included with your rental.

15' Self-Bailer Oar Boat

$175 per "day on the river"

Big enough to carry a week's worth of gear, but maneuverable enough for low-water trips. Holds up to four people and their gear.

Boat with frame, oars, cooler, and boxes

Includes raft, frame, oars, bow & stern lines, 2 dry boxes, large cooler, cargo sling, cargo net, throw rope, repair kit, pump, assorted straps, life jackets, and waterproof bags. Firepan, ash can, shovel, bucket, strainer, and Porta potty are required by the Forest Service and are included with your rental.

16' Self-Bailer Oar Boat

$185.00 per "day on the river"

16' Boat Loaded with GearPerfect boat for Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, Hells Canyon, and medium- to high-water Middle Fork and Selway trips. Holds up to five people and their gear.

Includes raft, frame, oars, bow & stern lines, 2 dry boxes, large cooler, cargo sling, cargo net, throw rope, repair kit, pump, assorted straps, life jackets, and waterproof bags. Firepan, ash can, shovel, bucket, strainer, and Porta potty are required by the Forest Service and are included with your rental.

FAQs About Raft Rental

When will you deliver the rental equipment to the put-in?

Paradise Landing put-in for Selway.The day prior to your launch or the day of your launch, whichever you prefer.

When will you pick up the rental equipment?

We will pick up the rental gear the day you come off the river at any agreed upon time.

What equipment do you provide that is required by the Forest Service?

The Forest Service requires a porta-potty, fire pan, ash can, strainer, bucket, and shovel. They recommend a sand stake for the Main Salmon. Blackadar Boating can provide all of the equipment required by the Forest Service.



What is the number of days allowed by the Forest Service for Middle Fork and Main Salmon river trips?
