Where is your shop located in Salmon?

     We are located about 1.5 miles north of the river bridge in Salmon on Highway 93 North.  Our shop is a big blue building with a white roof, on the West side of the Highway. 

What is your relationship to Walt Blackadar?

     John Bryant is Walt's son-in-law, and his wife Nan Bryant is Walt's daughter.  Their daughter, Marti, and son, Jerry, are Walt's grandchildren.

ABOUT RAFT RENTALS...

When will you deliver the rental equipment to the put-in?

     The day prior to your launch or the day of your launch, whichever you prefer.

When will you pick up the rental equipment?

     We will pick up the rental gear the day you come off the river at any agreed upon time for the Middle Fork and Selway, and between 1 and 2 pm for the Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, and Hells Canyon. 

When can we pick up rental gear?

The day prior to your launch.

When can we return rental gear?

     For Middle Fork trips, you can return rental gear the day you get off the river.  For all other trips, you can return rental gear the day after you get off the river.

What equipment do you provide with your rentals that is required by the Forest Service?

     The Forest Service requires a porta-potty, a fire pan, a mesh strainer fine enough to filter coffee grounds, to be used to strain food particles and other materials from your dishwater and gray-water, a bucket and a shovel for fire fighting, a Life Jacket for each person, and patching equipment. The Main Salmon also requires a sand stake.

     Blackadar Boating provides Jon-ny Partner porta-potties which accommodate approximately 60 uses.  We also provide a fire pan, shovel, strainer, bucket, repair kit, and life jackets for each group and a sand stake for the Main Salmon.

The Saveway Market in Salmon will do the shopping for you. You supply them with a food list and they will shop for you (208) 756-2822.  Be sure to place your orders early.  They have provided this service for years and are very easy to work with.  They are not open on Sundays. If you are renting rafts from us we will pick up your food order from Saveway and pack your boxes & coolers. Please call(208) 756-3958 for information

What happens if I damage or lose rental equipment?

     Lost or damaged equipment shall be repaired or replaced at the current costs of Blackadar Boating.

What do you do with our vehicles while we are on the river?

     We store your vehicles at our shop in Salmon.

What can you tell me about your shuttle drivers?

     We take great pride in providing the best shuttles/drivers available.  We use only mature drivers (over 40) who do a good job and have a lot of experience driving Idaho's mountain and river roads.  Many of our drivers have been with us for over ten years.

Where is the turn-off for Boundary Creek?

     Approximately at milepost 109 on Hwy 21 between Stanley and Lowman.

Where is the put-in for Marsh Creek?

     Between mileposts 111 and 112 on Hwy 21 between Stanley and Lowman.

What are the differences between Vinegar Creek, Carey Creek, and Spring Bar take-outs on the Main Salmon?

     Vinegar Creek take-out is small and primarily used by jet-boaters and outfitters.
     Carey Creek take-out gives you one more good rapid (Vinegar Creek) and has a large ramp with an easy turn-around. It is the primary Main Salmon take-out.
     Spring Bar is used mostly during high-water. It has a nice boat ramp with camping available.
